According to the reports, US Marshals ambushed Beckwith at gunpoint on the Appalachian Trail. The marshals assumed that he was Laundrie because of their same resemblance. The incident took place when Severin Beckwith and his girlfriend Anna Brettmann were at the Lodge at Fontana Village Resort.
