During her research (1988–1989), Logan served as a media journalist for the Durban Sunday Tribune, then for the city’s Daily News (1990–1992). In 1992, as a junior editor, she entered Reuters Television in Africa. She stepped out into professional reporting after four years, gaining tasks with ITN and Fox / SKY, CBS News, ABC News (in London), NBC, and the European Broadcast Union as a journalist and editor/producer.
GMTV Breakfast Television (UK) recruited Logan as a correspondent in 2000; she also worked as a freelance correspondent with CBS News Radio. Days after the attacks of September 11, she asked a clerk to give her a visa to travel to Afghanistan at the Russian Embassy in London. She infiltrated the American-British-backed Northern Alliance in November 2001 while working for GMTV in Afghanistan and interviewed their leader, General Babajan, at the Bagram Air Base.
In 2002, CBS News provided her a full correspondent role. She spent much of the next four years reporting from the battlefield, often embedded with the U.S. Armed Forces, including war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq. But she also interviewed famous figures and explorers like the discoverer of the RMS Titanic’s wreck, Robert Ballard. She has been a frequent contributor to the CBS Evening News, The Early Show and Face the Nation for many of her reports for 60 Minutes II. Logan was promoted to “Chief External Affairs Correspondent” for CBS News in February 2006.
